چکیده
Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma, which mimicked aortic dissection. A 90-year-old woman with a history of hypertension presented to the emergency department at night 3-h sudden neck-to-back pain, followed by loss sensory, motor, and bladder function. She had no prior injury or anticoagulant medication use. At admission, her vital signs were as follows: blood pressure, 210/80 mmHg without any difference in right left arms; pulse rate, 48 beats/min; respiratory 20 breaths/min; temperature, 36.1°C; oxygen saturation, 100% on ambient air. remained lucid throughout stay. General physical examination findings normal. Neurological demonstrated right-dominant paresis, manual muscle testing (right/left) indicating biceps 2/4 iliopsoas 2/3. The patient also exhibited dysesthesia distal upper lower extremities but thermal hypoalgesia was observed. Deep tendon reflex indicated an increased reflex. Cerebral neurological Blood tests showed elevated D-dimmer level 2.9 μg/mL (reference range <1.0) other laboratory data within normal limits. Suspecting dissection (AD), night-shift doctor performed urgent contrast-enhanced (CT), did not reveal false lumen. Although cause symptoms unknown, she admitted for follow-up. On following day, patient's persisted improvement. hospitalist, who taken over care from previous on-duty physician, reviewed day's CT scan. In reconstructed sagittal view, space-occupying lesion extravasation C4 identified (Figure 1), suggested diagnosis hematoma (SSEH). To confirm diagnosis, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed. Assessment of corelation between spinal canal shape and spinal cord injury in thoracolumbar spine fractures
Traumatic spinal cord injury is one of the important causes of disability.in some of vertebral fractures, spinal canal is deformed and compromised.the relationship between the shape of the cervical canal and spinal cord hnjury has been proved but such a correlation for thoraculombar spine 50 patients with compromised canal(cases) and 50 oatients with intact canal were evaluated in the light of s...
متن کاملMultiple spinal canal meningiomas.
Three cases of multiple spinal canal meningiomas are presented, bringing the total number of documented cases in the American literature to nine. While the exact incidence of multiple spinal meningiomas is difficult to determine, their possible occurrence warrants careful myelographic examination of the whole spinal canal, particularly if multiple clinical levels are present. When a complete bl...
متن کاملThe spinal canal in cervical spondylosis.
Cervical spondylosis was defined by Brain (1948), by Brain, Northfield, and Wilkinson (1952), and by Frykholm (1951). Its essential features are protrusion of the annulus fibrosus and changes in the adjacent vertebral margins. The size of the cervical spinal canal may play a major part in the neurological manifestations of cervical spondylosis. The antero-posterior diameters of the cervical can...
متن کاملTraumatic air in spinal canal (pneumorrhachis).
BACKGROUND Pneumorrhachis (PR) means the presence of air in the spinal canal; it is an exceptional, but important radiographic finding, which may be associated with different aetiologies and pathways of air entry into the spinal canal. CASE REPORT An 18-year-old male was admitted to hospital after a road traffic accident. He was conscious, with several abrasions and subcutaneous haematoma and...
متن کاملExtension of Retropiretoneal Neuroblastoma to Spinal Canal: A Case Report
Neuroblastoma is a nervous system malignancy. The extension of intra-abdominal neuroblastoma to the spinal canal is a rare condition. In this case report, we present a patient with monoplegia and a huge intra-abdominal mass with intra spinal extension and cord compression.
